Meet Amanda
I was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up just 50 feet from the Pacific Ocean. Despite my family not coming from wealth, my parents worked hard to give us the best life possible, and my mom encouraged me to attend college. After attending Seattle Pacific University and receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, I set my sights on becoming a Nurse Practitioner, although my professors discouraged me from going straight to graduate school.
Despite the discouragement, I applied for grant funding to pay for graduate school and landed a full-ride scholarship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While attending school, I also worked nights and served as a nanny. After graduation, I worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery in Seattle before being recruited to the neurosurgery team at Duke University by my now-husband, John Gorecki.
However, after moving to Kansas, I was unable to continue working as a Nurse Practitioner due to a nepotism rule. Instead of letting this stop me, I saw it as an opportunity to enter the rapidly growing industry of anti-aging medicine and opened Healing Waters in 2002. Although I was inexperienced in the spa industry, I partnered with amazing people and put in a lot of hard work to build the first Healing Waters in Wichita.
Through many mistakes and stressful days, I developed not only Healing Waters but also a skincare line called Pure Md. As a business leader, I have learned so much and have developed a strong passion for helping other business leaders and entrepreneurs. I put faithfulness over success and encourage women in business.
I work with businesses to achieve operational efficiency, profitability, and health. I continue to develop Pure MD and volunteer my time in my community and other nonprofits needing operational support. I am a wife, mom, friend, nurse practitioner, and businesswoman who values faith, family, and health.
